A very simple Vathal you could make with less effort in summer season.Apart from making pickles during summer time, making sandige /vadams /vadis and papads to stock up for the entire year is another big process in every south Indian home.As you all know , this summer i shared many such special recipes.In this series am continue with Murungakkai Vathal /Drumstick Vathal like sun dried cluster beans.This recipe is Sun Dried Munakkaya, so that it can be used when it is not available in season or if its price has risen into high or when if you are in a country where it is not available at all.With this vathal/varugulu you can make  Murungakkai Vathal sambar or Murungakkai Vathal mutton or Murungakkai Vathal tomato curry,Vathal kuzhambu with this preserved Sun Drieddrumstick vathal.

Drumstick Vathal Sun Dried Munakkaya Murungakkai Vathal Recipe:


Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 5 mins
Drying Time: 2-3 Days
Fraying Time (for a batch of 50g): 3-4 mins
Total Time: 5 Days 15 mins
Serves: Makes 150-200 gm
Course: Accompaniments, Vadiyalu
Cuisine: Andhra Recipes, Indian

Ingredients:


Drumstick-1kg
Water as per required
Salt-1tbsp

Preparation:


Wash and remove the sharp ends of the drumsticks and cut them into 2 inch pieces.shift them into wide bowl and enough water until they (drumstick) pieces immersed completely.Add salt and mix them well
and bring them to boil.When the water starts to boiling, switch off the flame.Allow it to cool down completely.

Method:


After cool down,drain the water completely and spread the half cooked drumstick pieces in a plastic sheet or clean cotton clothes. They will dry in about 4-5 days time or time depending on the heat in the climate.When they become dry and crisp store in a airtight jar or container for year long.

Tips:


Use drained  water  for soups or you can use this water for making sambar,rasam also.
