A very simple fryum you could make with less effort in summer season.Apart from making pickles during summer time, making sandige /vadams /vadis and papads to stock up for the entire year is another big process in every south Indian home.As you all know , this summer i shared many such special recipes . In this series am continue with Rava Vadiyalu. It Also called as Sooji ke papad ,Bombai Rava vadiyalu, Rava Vadam,Rava Fryums,Carrot rava vadiyalu. Rava Fryums are very crispy and tasty fryums and it is a very perfect accompaniment for any variety rice. Even with a simple rasam.A very simple fryum you could make with less effort in summer season.To attract the kids we can make vathal using different molds and also serve them as a snack for the kids. You can also use different food colors also.

Rava Fryums:


Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 5 mins
Drying Time: 1-2 Days
Fraying Time (for a batch of 50g): 3-4 mins
Total Time: 5 Days 15 mins
Serves: Makes 150-200 gm
Course: Accompaniments, Vadiyalu
Cuisine: Andhra Recipes, Indian

Urban Platter Sabudana Papad, Cumin, 500g (Gluten-free & Upwas-friendly Tapioca Papads)

Ingredients:


1 cup rava/ Sooji rava/bombai/semolina
one tbsp salt
1 tbsp Jeera/Ajwain
2 green chillis
1/2 inch ginger
8 cups of water

Preparation:


Grind green chillis, ginger and salt to fine paste in a mixie. Heat a thick bottomed vessel and add 8 cups of water to it.Add the green chilli ginger paste to it. Add jeera and stir.Mix well and add the rava/sooji slowly. Allow the batter to cool.If the batter thickens after cooling add little warm water.

Method:


Now spread a Plastic sheet. Take a spoon full of batter and start placing Maintain equal distance in between.Allow the papad to dry for 2 to 3 days in hot sun.Make sure that the papad are dried properly. Store them in an air tight container. ​

Tips:



  • For variation you can make tomato paste or mango paste,chopped ash gourd.If you dont want spicy you can skip green chilies,ginger paste.Use only salt,for Salty Fryums.

  • If you dont want oil fry you can use air fryer without oil you can fry these fryums. or you can use microwave oven.

  • Instead of semolina rava you can use rice rava,wheat rava,jowar rava,ragi rava.
